Upcoming Out and Abouts
This week, we will join the Puffins for an all day O&A to Hagg Lake. Please send in your student's donation and permission slip no later than Wednesday, June 4th. On Thursday, help your student be prepared for the day by packing: water bottle, lunch, sunglasses/hat, sunscreen, rain jacket and extra clothes (in case they get wet). Students must wear closed toed shoes that can get wet (no flip flops or sandals). They can bring an extra pair of shoes to change into after canoeing.

I would LOVE extra parent support this week to help with the bookstore and getting the room ready for Celebrations of Learning. You can sign up on VolunteerSpot or email me if you're able to help during project work on Tuesday or Wednesday 1:45 - 3:00.
Math Notes
Last week in Third Grade Math, students continued to work on Muffles' Truffles Shop problems. In this investigation, students learn about a chocolatier's efforts to cope with the operational challenges of running a truffle shop (counting, pricing, and labeling assorted boxes of chocolates). First, they had to figure out how to pack all the flavors of truffles into boxes of 10 and then place the leftovers into assortment boxes. Next, students designed their own boxes of varying sizes and calculated the price. We will continue to work on this project over the next two weeks and students will also have time to complete end-of-the-year assessments.
Last week the fourth grade mathematicians finished their Dream House project. This project involved designing a one-story dream home with specific requirements (see rubric) intended to challenge Puffin and Plover geometry and data analysis skills. This week fourth grade mathematicians will continue their Dream House Presentations. Dream House floor plans will be available to view during Wednesday's Celebration of Learning (5:00-6:30). Hope to see you all there!
