Upcoming Out and Abouts
Tomorrow (Wednesday), Level 2 will head to Cannon Beach for an all-day O&A! While we're there, we are hoping to squeeze in a lot of fun, like bird-watching, sand castle engineering, tide-pooling, beach clean-up and some special activities for our grey whale researchers! The forecast calls for partly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s; please help your Plover dress appropriately (layers!) and make sure they have sun protection and a water bottle.
Scholastic Book Orders Due Today!
You can view this month's selections and submit your order online at https://orders.scholastic.com/L79X9. This will be the last opportunity for students to order books this year and use their $5 birthday coupon. When you place your order online, you'll help earn FREE books for our class! The books typically arrive about 10 days after I submit the class orders.
Volunteer Opportunities - http://vols.pt/drMimF
We are in need of breakfast donations for this week (Friday, May 29th) and next week (Friday, June 5th). I would also like some help proofreading and publishing students' migration writing before Celebrations of Learning; this would mean reading over a piece of typed writing with individual students and helping them make corrections (like spelling, capitalization and punctuation). Sign up here: http://vols.pt/9oYGrJ. Thank you for your support!
Weekly Review
Last week, most Plovers completed the Smarter Balanced Math Assessment and Performance Task! This means we will be able to return to our regular schedule this week and focus on writing and project work. The school is also participating in another week of kindness, and last week Plovers chose acts of kindness they would like to complete in our classroom and around the school. One group is busy making awards for each Plover and another group is planning fun games and performances to include in our daily morning meetings. Some students are making posters for the hallway and others are planning dance parties for all of the other classes, Level 1 through Level 4!
Communication
Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Parents and students can e-mail me at [email protected]. You can also leave a voice message on the class phone, come into the classroom before or after school, or call me before 8PM at home.
