Activities To Try At Home
Current 4th Grade Math Topics:
4th grade: Winter Break Math Pages for those who would like a little extra practice!
- Multiply 1 digit by 2 digits and multiply 2 digits by 2 digits using an area model.
- Justify your answer! Students are working on explaining their thinking outloud and in writing.
- All 4th grade math students should be practicing their multiples DAILY (They know how to do this- ask your kiddo to show you!)
Scholastic Book Orders
I have received part of the December scholastic book order, but I am still waiting on 2 boxes that were supposed to be delivered on the snow days before Winter Break. I'm so sorry that some families did not receieve their holiday gift orders in time! I will send home your child's order as soon as I can. Please let me know if you still want me to place your order in the office for you to pick up, instead of giving the books directly to your student.
Waste-Free Class Celebration Rescheduled!
We will have a day of waste-free fun on Friday, January 6th to celebrate our study of consumerism and the approaching launch of our classroom business! We have learned a lot about reducing trash and making choices that conserve energy and natural resources, and now students will put their new knowledge to the test! We will try to create zero waste the entire day. Students are asked to bring a snack/lunch with no packaging or wrappers that need to be thrown away. Recyclable and reusable containers only please! They should also bring a reusable mug or cup for hot chocolate (I will provide the drinks), and they can bring board/card games to play with their classmates. We will have P.E at our regular time (11:50 - 12:50).
Weekly Review
Watch this short video about a waste audit that the Plovers completed last month! After sorting, analyzing and recording data about the trash, the students helped recycle, compost or reuse as much of the waste as they could! The Plovers will use this information to identify a problem that they would like to solve with the profits from their puppet theater!
