Weekly Review
Last week, the Plovers started the new year by working on citizenship, scholarship and stewardship goals! Students thought about the goals they set at conferences in October and met with other students who had similar goals. Together, they brainstormed ways to stay on track and reward themselves for working toward their goal. Groups also made posters and calendars to help them remember what they need to do to achieve their goals. At home, this would be a good time for families to check in on the Tower of Books Challenge and other homework goals! Have your student create a calendar or other check in system for keeping track of their work. Consider an incentive for every 5 or 10 books your Plover adds to their tower, like a special dinner or family game night!
The Plovers are learning about stop motion animation with the app: Stop Motion Studio. It is a free app that works on most tablets, phones and computers! Last week, students worked with a partner to practice with the iPads and app. Each group made a short video and shared it with the class. Over the next month, they will be writing a new fairy tale adaptation and creating backgrounds for their movies with Stephanie in art. Then, they will use their writing to create their own stop-motion animation for Celebrations of Learning in February!
