Upcoming Out and Abouts
This week, we will begin our study of Native Americans and Lewis & Clark. On Thursday, students will have a chance to examine materials from the Oregon Historical Society during an "In & About." This will help us prepare for our trip to Fort Clatsop next week!
Volunteer Opportunities
Join us for an all day Out & About to Fort Clatsop! Chaperones will ride a school bus with both Level 2 classes and accompany students on a guided tour. Space on the bus is limited, so please click here to sign up on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/JCYSoA
Thank you to our Mystery Readers and breakfast donors! Both of these new traditions are off to a great start! All spots are filled for this week, but you can sign up for future dates on our VolunteerSpot page: http://vols.pt/drMimF
Weekly Review
Last Thursday, we enjoyed a sunny afternoon in the Backyard Garden (our school's garden on the corner of 19th and Main). It was a fun, relaxing trip to practice Out & About behaviors. Some students chose to work on cleaning up the garden beds with Janelle. Other students found quiet places around the garden to work on writing. We also had time to explore, play games, and celebrate Sonja's birthday with a special snack!
We had a great visit to the Forest Grove Library last week! Students reviewed proper library etiquette and checked out books. Library books that are checked out on my account will stay in the classroom and can be read during Reading Workshop or Quiet Time. Students can bring their personal library cards if they would like to check out books to read at home. We will visit the library approximately every three weeks and our next visit will be on Monday, October 14th.
Communication
Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Parents and students can e-mail me at [email protected]. You can also leave a voice message on the class phone, come into the classroom before or after school, or call me before 8PM at home.
