Friendship Celebration (Valentines Day)
The Plovers will show appreciation for our classroom community and friendships with a Friendship Celebration on February 14th. If your Plover would like to bring in cards for their classmates, they MUST bring one for every student. Students can make cards or buy them. I am sending home a list of students' names today. Please be modest with candy contributions; Plovers will not be allowed to eat treats at school.
Great Kindness Challenge
Next week, we will participate in The Great Kindness Challenge, which is a week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness on school campuses nationwide. Throughout the week, the Plovers will have time to plan and perform kind deeds for the school community, and they will also focus on classroom community and problem solving skills. You can also encourage your child to practice extra kindness at home and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS!
Weekly Review
Last week, we went to the Oregon Ballet Theater studio in Portland to learn about the profession of ballet. We saw professional dancers taking classes and rehearsing for their upcoming show - Sleeping Beauty! Unfortunately, we aren't able to attend the show this year because their school performances now take place on Friday afternoons. During our tour, the Plovers also got to try out some dancing with Robyn - one of their dance teachers. Finally, we got to take a look at the costume workshop and meet some of the people who help make masks, wig and costumes for all the shows! Next week, we will work with Robyn again to create our own dances about familiar fairy tales!
