Upcoming Out and Abouts
This week, students will set up the room for Celebrations of Learning and work on their letterboxing project with Erin. Letter boxing is a type of treasure hunt - carefully crafted clues are posted online that lead hunters to a specific location. There, they will find a small box containing a handmade stamp to log their discovery! Level 2 scientists have created letterboxes with fun facts to teach our community about local wildlife. Now, we need to hide them in nearby natural areas to encourage Forest Grovers to get outside. Learn more at letterboxing.org
For our final Out and About on June 7th, we will culminate our ecosystem learning with a trip to Hagg Lake. Working in their research teams, students will embark on a hike with a mission - to measure the quality of Hagg Lake's ecosystem, and work to improve it!
Some of the activities we'll take on:
* Monitoring for invasive plants
* Monitoring for aquatic macro invertebrates
* Using insect nets to investigate the meadow ecosystem
* Finding the perfect spot to hide our final letterboxes
* Sharing a picnic lunch
Please join us for this final adventure - we need several parent chaperones to ensure a safe and productive trip!

Weekly Review
The Plovers are working furiously to finish their informational writing and other visitor center projects for Celebrations of Learning! We hope you'll stop by Wednesday evening to see the results of all their investigating and collaborating. Each of the six groups will have a large 3D animal diagram, published informational book, wetland habitat model, game/obstacle course and a stewardship video to share, in addition to the large wetland and ocean murals they completed together! Most of this work will be on display in the classroom, but some will also be in the Level 2 hallway. Plovers are encouraged to dress up as their visitor center employee for Celebrations of Learning. See you Wednesday!
