Weekly Review
Last week, animal experts decided on the big topics they will write about for their research group's informational book. Students chose one or two overarching concepts, like behavior or habitat, and starting thinking about how their wetland and ocean animals are similar and different in this regard. We will begin writing our rough drafts in class this week and publishing final drafts next week! Animal experts also began work on their visitor center exhibits. Each job has the following tasks to complete for their group:
Education Specialists - Life cycle game and poster
Field Biologists - 3D animal model
Landscape Architect - Habitat model and visitor center construction
Lorax (Conservation Crew) - Protection invention and stewardship video
For this week's spirit day, Plovers should dress up like their visitor center employee or another kind of scientist. We reflected on the types of clothing and gear we've seen scientists and educators wear on our Out & Abouts and discussed other simple uniform and prop ideas for scientists who work in nature. Pretend electronics only please (walkie talkies and cameras came up in our class discussion)!
Visitor Center Costume Ideas
