No Homework This Week!
Upcoming Out and Abouts
This week, we will work on completing our models, books and displays for Celebrations of Learning on Wednesday. On Thursday, we will head to Central School for groups to lead Level 1 students through their life cycle games or obstacle courses. Next week, the Plovers decided to have an final "In & About" instead of an Out & About to make ice cream and sock monsters! I could use parent helpers for ice cream making and sewing support!
Volunteer Opportunities - http://vols.pt/drMimF
We are in need of breakfast donations for this week (Friday, June 5th). I would also like some help on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon proofreading and publishing students' migration writing before Celebrations of Learning; this would mean reading over a piece of typed writing with individual students and helping them make corrections (like spelling, capitalization and punctuation). On Wednesday, groups may also need help finishing up their displays. Sign up here: http://vols.pt/9oYGrJ. Thank you for your support!
Weekly Review
Last week, we hosted dance parties for Levels 1-4 as part of the FGCS Kindness Challenge. The Plovers were excited to share their favorite songs and moves with our guests, even if they weren't so sure about joining in! We also sent Dinobaby and his friends to visit with other classrooms, made posters and love monsters, and picked up trash at the beach! We also received some mysterious, kind notes and gifts throughout the week.
The Plovers are working furiously to finish their informational writing and other migration projects for Celebrations of Learning! We hope you'll stop by Wednesday evening to see the results of all their investigating and collaborating. Each of the six groups (Bats, Grey Whales, Monarch Butterflies, Peregrine Falcon, Salmon and Sandhill Crane) will have a large diagram, published informational book, stop motion movie, habitat model, game/obstacle course and a stewardship video to share, in addition to the large Oregon model they built together! Most of this work will be on display in the classroom, but some will also be in the hallway. See you Wednesday!
