Spelling Words
Below are the current words and patterns that students are working on during spelling. This week, Plovers can earn bonus pay by writing an advertisement (3rd graders) or a newspaper article (4th graders) using some of their spelling words. Level 2 students do not have spelling homework, but you may choose to review these words in a fun way with your Plover!
Some at home practice ideas:
- Write your words in ABC order
- Write each word and draw a picture to show its meaning
- Hop on one foot as you spell each word (you can switch feet between words!)

Upcoming Out and Abouts
This week, an educator from Oregon Ballet Theatre will visit to help us prepare for a field trip to the ballet on March 1st! Students should wear comfortable clothes for moving and dancing! Next week, Plovers will continue work on their stop motion animation.
Volunteer Opportunities
1. Laundry and Dish Duty - Laundry needed this Friday
Additional snack donations - I like to keep some extra snacks in the classroom for students who forget their lunch or snack, and my stash is getting low! Breakfast bars, fruit leathers or fruit snacks, crackers, goldfish or pretzels are all great options. These donations can be brought in any time.
Weekly Review
The Plovers are learning about stop motion animation with the app: Stop Motion Studio. Last week, they worked in small groups during art and project time to create moveable characters from play doh. Their Level 4 buddies also came to help! This week, they will work on developing a story board and a background for their scenes. This practice, using their fairy tale adaptations from Readers Theater, will prepare them to make an original animation! Over the next month, they will be choosing a favorite piece of writing from our Fairy Tale writing unit, and they will use their story to either create their own animation or engineering project for Celebrations of Learning in February!
