Thank you to all the families who have dropped off recycled materials so far! Now, we are in need of more cans (aluminum/tin) and plastic bottles. Please rinse cans/bottles and remove the lids. Drop off your items in one of the collection bins outside the Plover classroom! Thanks for your help!

Friendship Celebration (Valentines Day)
The Plovers will show appreciation for our classroom community and friendships with a Friendship Celebration at the end of the day on February 14th. If your Plover would like to bring in cards for their classmates, they MUST bring one for every student (there are 26 Plovers). Students can make cards or buy them. Please be modest with candy contributions; Plovers will not be allowed to eat treats at school.
Great Kindness Challenge
This week, we are participating in The Great Kindness Challenge, which is a week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness on school campuses nationwide. Throughout the week, the Plovers will have time to plan and perform kind deeds for the school community, and they will also focus on classroom community and problem solving skills. You can also encourage your child to practice extra kindness at home and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS!
Upcoming Out and Abouts
We will use our Out & About time in February for building our recycled mini golf course! Plover families and friends are invited to play mini golf during Celebrations of Learning on February 21st!
Volunteer Opportunities
Out & About Chaperones - Needed 2/13 for in class support with building our mini golf course
Library Chaperones - Sign ups now posted through the end of the year!
Community Breakfast - Fruit and cereal/bagels needed for Friday breakfast in February/March
Additional snack donations - I like to keep some extra snacks in the classroom for students who forget their lunch or snack, and my stash is getting low! Granola bars, fruit leathers, goldfish crackers or applesauce pouches are all great options. These donations can be brought in any time.

Weekly Review
The Plovers are working hard to prepare their class business for Celebrations of Learning! Last week, groups developed a work plan and got started on several tasks: building obstacles, making golf clubs, creating informational posters and redesigning their toys from take apart day. It was a busy (and messy) week in the classroom! We hope families will stop by the Plover and Puffin Putt Putt on February 21st to see their hard work and creative re-use of recycled materials. The Plovers decided that the profits from the mini golf course will be used to help reduce lunch waste on Out & Abouts.
