The Plovers have been studying waste and recycling this year, and now we are ready to turn your trash into treasure! We are collecting donations to make a mini golf course. Specifically, we need cardboard tubes, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, cereal/cracker boxes, large yogurt tubs (not single servings), milk/juice cartons, CDs and mesh produce bags. CLEAN MATERIALS ONLY. Bring in your recycling any time through February 8, 2019. Drop off your items in one of the collection bins outside the Plover classroom! Thanks for your help!

Volunteer Opportunities

Library Chaperones - Sign ups now posted through the end of the year!
Community Breakfast - Fruit and cereal/bagels needed for Friday breakfast in February/March
Additional snack donations - I like to keep some extra snacks in the classroom for students who forget their lunch or snack, and my stash is getting low! Granola bars, fruit leathers, goldfish crackers or applesauce pouches are all great options. These donations can be brought in any time.
4th Grade NAEP Testing
FGCS 4th grade students have been selected to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). The NAEP assessment will be given on February 11, 2019. For more information, click here. If you have questions, please contact school test coordinator Karen Torry at [email protected] or 503-359-4600.
Friendship Celebration (Valentines Day)
The Plovers will show appreciation for our classroom community and friendships with a Friendship Celebration at the end of the day on February 14th. If your Plover would like to bring in cards for their classmates, they MUST bring one for every student. Students can make cards or buy them. Please be modest with candy contributions; Plovers will not be allowed to eat treats at school.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Parents and students can e-mail me at [email protected]. You can also leave a voice message on the class phone or set up a time to meet with me before/after school.
