State (SBAC) Testing Starts This Week
Level 2 students will begin state testing today. Testing is administered in the computer lab in short sessions, and students have the opportunity to work on the same test over multiple sessions so they can work at their own pace. Please help support your Plover by: encouraging them to do their best, making sure they eat breakfast and bring a snack, and helping them get plenty of sleep.
I would like to have some extra snacks available on SBAC testing days, so if you are able to donate a healthy snack (cheese sticks, granola bars, washed/cut fruit or something else easy to distribute and eat) for the class, sign up on the breakfast donation page.

Family Event at Fernhill Wetlands
This Saturday, May 4th, Fernhill Wetlands is hosting the annual Birds and Brews event. The Plovers really enjoyed our Out & About to Fernhill and many students wished they had more time to explore the trails and look at birds! Families can stop by the event for tours, raffles, local food and live music. The Audubon society will also be there with birds of prey!
Weekly Review
Last week, we traveled to the Oregon coast to participate in a stewardship project hosted by the Haystack Rock Awareness Program. Students hunted for and removed micro and macro plastics, as well as other non-organic beach debris. We learned that birds and other animals eat microplastic because it looks like food. Back at City Hall, students sorted and used the plastic bits to create Puffin and Plover collages. We will return to Haystack Rock on May 22nd to pick up our artwork and explore the tide pools!
