Upcoming Out and Abouts
This week, we are going to Haystack Rock for a beach clean up and art project! This will be an all-day adventure; the bus will leave promptly at 9am and return around 3pm. Students need a sack lunch, water bottle, and clothing for any weather the coast might offer - including warm, waterproof layers and close-toed shoes. Next week, we will visit Jackson Bottom wetlands for a biodiversity program.

State (SBAC) Testing Starts Next Week
Level 2 students will begin state testing on Monday, April 29th. Testing is administered in the computer lab in short sessions, and students have the opportunity to work on the same test over multiple sessions so they can work at their own pace. This week, students will have the opportunity to complete a practice test in the computer lab. Please help support your Plover by: encouraging them to do their best, making sure they eat breakfast and bring a snack, and helping them get plenty of sleep.
Under Oregon law, parents have the right to exclude students from standardized tests. Parents are required to sign an opt-out form and submit that to the school office. Use this link to download opt-out forms, or you can request forms in the school office.
Weekly Review
We had a short week last week and we used most of our time together to prepare for student-led conferences. Hopefully you were able to see a sample of your Plover's recent work and their reflections on strengths and challenges from the year. I could see how excited the students were to have their families in the classroom and lead their own conferences! Thank you for listening to your students talk about their progress this year and supporting them at home with their goals!
