Words Words Words!
The students' job is to look for these words in their reading or listen for them in conversation. If they find one of our words, they should record the sentence or bring the book with them to Morning Meeting. Try using these words at home and see if your Plover notices!
1. Announcement
2. Distant
3. Admit

Math Notes
Last week in Third Grade math, students continued working on fraction problems with pizzas. In partners, they chose their most challenging problem and made a poster to show how they solved it. Their work will be on display in the hallway between the Puffin and Plover Nests for Student-Led Conferences. Students also began to prepare for student-led conferences by reflecting on several projects we have completed this semester and choosing work for their portfolio. See you Thursday at conferences!
Last week in Fourth Grade Math, Puffin and Plover students continued to develop their understanding of fractions using number lines and the array model. Students also worked on fraction story problems. We also began our review in preparation for the OAKS Math Test (scheduled for early May).
Weekly Review
Last week, the Plovers spent some time reflecting on our major work this year and choosing pieces of work to include in their portfolios. Your Plover will share their portfolio with you at Student-Led Conferences this Thursday. If you haven't already, please contact the FGCS office (503-359-4600) to schedule a conference. These conferences will last about 20-30 minutes and provide an opportunity for your student to highlight their growth this year, as well as their strengths and challenges. There will be multiple families in the classroom simultaneously; I will be available for questions and concerns, but I will not be meeting individually with each family. The Plovers will be working hard this week to rehearse and prepare for leading their conferences with their families, so we hope to see you there!
Communication
Please contact me with any questions or concerns. Parents and students can e-mail me at [email protected]. You can also leave a voice message on the class phone, come into the classroom before or after school, or call me before 8PM at home.
